Dr Andrew Bateman

Clinical Manager, Director of Research

Andrew is lead clinician and manager of the new Cambridgeshire Community Services NeuroRehab Business Unit. He is an Affiliated Lecturer in the Dept of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge.

Andrew is a Chartered Physiotherapist. He completed a PhD at the University of Birmingham in 1997 entitled "A Cognitive Neuropsychological Approach to Assessment of Patients with Brain Injury".

Activities include oversight of admissions, assessment and rehabilitation, providing consultation and assessment, report writing, research and teaching activity and management of the Clinical Teams here at OZC and in Cambridgeshire.

Andrew's main research interest is in the field of outcome measurement. He has recently been exploring the use of Rasch models to help us understand our questionnaires. See the link below for some example slides about this topic, with further links on our research pages. He is also keen to advocate the use of single subject experimental designs in the evaluation of rehabilitation and other interventions.

A second strand of research concerns the assessment and rehabilitation of neurovisual disorders.

Andrew is currently available to provide in-service training for your department or to lead workshops on the following topics: single subject experimental designs, dyspraxia, neuropsychology of vision, neuropsychological rehabilitation and outcome research.
